Rob Martino is a solo performer of the Chapman Stick, a unique instrument that combines elements of guitar, piano and percussion. The strings are tapped onto the frets rather than plucked or strummed, enabling both hands to play different parts as on a keyboard. Rob is based in the Fredericksburg, Virginia area. In addition having a popular worldwide presence with his music on YouTube and MySpace, he is currently perfoming regularly in the mid-Altanic U.S. area. You are welcome to get in touch with any booking requests- travel to other parts of the world will be considered! Heavily influenced by progressive and art rock artists such as Jethro Tull, Rush, Marillion, Genesis, Kate Bush and Gentle Giant, Rob has aspired to incorporate similar intricate harmonic and melodic aspects to his playing style. Rob is originally from the Boston area, and has had a lifelong interest in music and computers - he is a software engineer in the music technology industry (Wave Arts and Camel Audio), and also holds a master's degree in music from Northwestern University.
