Berklee College of Music Partnership
Posted on Friday, February 1, 2008
BOSTON, MA, February 1, 2008— Berklee College of Music announced today that it has equipped the studios and labs of its cutting-edge Music Technology Division with audio processing technology from Boston area software company Wave Arts. The partnership starts a long term relationship aimed at ensuring Berklee students and faculty have access to the latest innovations in digital signal processing (DSP) software for music recording. In the past, recording studios have used external hardware devices for audio effects processing, such as equalization, compression, noise reduction, and reverberation. These functions are increasingly implemented by software “plug-ins” that work with the recording and editing applications on studio computers. Wave Arts specializes in DSP software technology, and offers several plug-in bundles providing functions that are essential for audio and music production.
Says Wave Arts President Bill Gardner, “We’re excited to be partnering with Berklee. Their students can use our powerful plug-ins in their productions, and we get a tremendously talented and imaginative user base to help guide our future product development. We’ve already received very expert feedback.”
“We’ve used Wave Arts products for many years, enjoying the high sound quality and powerful utility of these plug-ins,” says Berklee’s Dean of Music Technology, Stephen Croes. “While these are certainly among the best of the professional products out there, the user interface makes them particularly great teaching tools – we have them throughout our division’s facilities on all studio and lab computers. We are proud to develop this direct relationship with Wave Arts and look forward to exploring our mutual interests in exploring advanced recording and production techniques.”
