Just saw the new update for trackplug, cool!

Havent tried it out yet.

I worked out the other day what annoyed me about trackplug5. I often find myself changing the comp/gate controls for the wrong comp/gate.

The reason I realised is because when I press enable I expect the cardfile style to pop the comp/gate to the front but it doesnt, you have to press enable and select the comp/gate.

Cheers

Thanks for the feedback, we thought of that too but there are often times when someone is editing one compressor and may want to enable and disable another compressor to hear the difference.  In this case it may be irritating to have the compressors switch over when all you want to do is enable/disable it.

Cheers for the reply,

Yea. I can understand that - but at least nothing can go wrong when you have to select enable and also select the appropriate comp. With the way round you have it now i can lose settings although there is an undo its only a 1 level undo. - I understand though that you’ve made the decision now and it perhaps would cause confusion if you changed it.

How much difference is there in CPU usage between this trackplug version with the spectrum analyser and previous versions?

I loaded up a cubase SX and it started stuttering and I had to increase the buffers. - This may not be due to trackplug but I’m fairly sure I didnt decrease the buffer size recently.

I think the Analyser is nice but I wont be using it. I did see some people requesting it on this forum i think and its good that you’ve listened to their request but for my part I’d much rather have trackplug inserted then Inspector from the what used to be Elemental Audio which is free anyway (or something similar).

I dont think it quite works as a feature.

I do love trackplug though. I use it all the time and I will purchase your multiband compressor and final plug at some point.

I want to get a new reverb at some point too, but there are quite a few out there that interest me.

Also, I did notice something odd, It was in a previous version, dont know if it still happens with this newer one. Occaisionally when I inserted trackplug into cubase SX3 I would get a funny effect where most of the sound seemed to come out of one speaker, it sounded a bit like one of these stereo wideners as well. It happened a few times when i used the copy and paste option for channels in cubase i think.

Cheers

I think the Built in SA will be handy for quick adjustments on spikeystuff, but if your using inspectorXL , you’ve been spoiled in the spectrum analyser area!  (gotta hate RN!)

I moved to 5.2 in cubase vst5,2 (windows) without a hickup!!  :D

The adjustable scale on the compression meters is great!!

Hi Stella,

You know, I make this same mistake frequently. I click on the enable, then start editing params, and… nothing happens, then I realize I haven’t selected the tab. But, we decided it should work this way in order to be able to enable/disable other units. I think we will handle it by having a preferences dialog where one can customize this sort of subtle behavior. No ETA on that.

Regarding CPU usage, the RTA signal processing is very lightweight, though I don’t have any figures.

The TP RTA was intended to be an aid, not a full featured RTA by any stretch. IXL is quite nice I think.

Cheers,

Cheers for the replies guys,

Yea I can imagine for quick adjustments it wold be useful.

I dont own the full inspector XL, I have the cut down free version which is great. I would like the full version but not sure I want to upgrade due to the RN merger.

I came across that bug I mentioned before again. I’ve got a large project going on with 100 tracks in SX3.

I wanted to hear a quick mix down on a hifi system so I slapped trackplug5 on the master buss, enabled a compressor with a lookahead. I also used a hipass filter at the bottom and boosted the high end slightly with a vintage shelving filter.

I boosted 3db as well but didnt actually enable the limiter I think.

I exported the track , listened to it in itunes and most of the audio was coming out the left speaker. It also sounded like I had used the shelving filter excessively on the top end.

Went back into cubase, switched the insert on then off, exported again and it sounded fine in itunes. - For some strange reason I tend not to listen to it when exporting. Dont know why :D
