Re: How many people use pro tools here and ...
I don’t really understand what you are talking about.
Usually threads like this come out of all kind of dj’s, semi-pro musicians, semi-pro engineers and other hobbiests.
But if you are a professional engineer, you know how to use applications you work with, and how overcome limitations.
I call it limitations not bugs, cause any software is working exactlly as a hardware tool. Who said that the software must be ideal? Yes it’s much easier to fix bugs for developers but they persist and this is the reality. But is your car perfect? Or is your washing machine never broken?
Regarding Pro Tools I can say that I work everyday and sometime every night with it. I often have large sessions with 100-120 tracks, 2 houres long and huge amount of plug-ins. Innormal amount of automations, syncing all to the picture.
Any other application (well known to you) would not hold it like this. There are alternatives like Soundscape, Pyramix, Fairlight e.t.c and they are good but not so widely used as Pro Tools (have you heard about them?).
I can say that I am pretty happy with my Pro Tools HD 7.3.1 and there are 2 or 3 minor bugs that distorb me.
I wish I could say the same about Logic or Nuendo.
So be professional, work hard and creatively. Chose the program you like...and help developers to solve problems. This is much more pleasant than searching bugs.
And the last....try to buy application you use - it really makes a difference.
Good luck.
