Installing Masterverb

I have not been able to install the AU version of Masterverb 4 from PowerCoupleLE (received as a gift with Prosonus FirePod) on my Mac. Track Plug works fine. The Digidesign version of Masterverb did loaded. I have tried the AU option in the Custom menu of the loader to no avail.  Host program is DP 5.1 (also did not load under version 4.6) running on a dual 1GHz G4 tower. Any help would be appreciated.

We’ve noticed that DP sometimes filters out our AU plug-ins because MOTU knows we have MAS versions, but in this case (Power Couple LE) obviously there aren’t MAS versions… I’d suggest contacting MOTU to see if there is a way of overriding the mechanism that skips our AU plug-ins.

Thanks. It’s curious that DP allowed one but not the other. I’ll get in touch with MOTU as soon as I get a chance.

I emailed MOTU and they responded:

Hello,

Thank you for your email.

The AU validation that MOTU uses will only skip a plugin that is AU format if there is a MAS version present. In the event that no MAS version is there, it will surely load the AU version of that plug-in.  There is a chance that the plugin must be edited to pass the AU validation process that DP places over any AU plugin on your system.

I will pass along your issues to our development for further inquiry.

Thanks for writing,
Nathan

I didn’t mentioned that I had previously downloaded and used the trial version of Masterverb. Since it’s possible MOTU is detecting a file associated with that, I believe I’ll need to know what files are installed so I can remove them. What files are installed and where can I find them?

Thanks

To remove the MAS versions of our plug-ins, go to your hard drive’s /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/MAS folder and remove the .bundle files that are ours (i.e. MasterVerb 5, TrackPlug 5, MultiDynamics 5, FinalPlug 5 and Panorama 5).

Thanks. Removed those files, Masterverb still did not install. Oh well.
Perhaps you could warn DP users that the AU version of Masterverb may not work.
Any possibility of getting the MAS version as a 1 for 1 replacement for the AU?

You can also try deleting the Audio Unit Info Cache in the Digital Performer preferences folder (your username’s /Library/Preferences/Digital Performer folder) to force a re-scan of your AUs once the MAS is gone.

Okay, when I tried that, DP’s AU scan process skipped Masterverb (but not Track Plug) with the message “Use MAS version”. Any other possibilities/ideas?

OK sorry, I see I gave you the incorrect information for which plug-ins to remove from the MAS folder, since you are trying to use Power Couple LE.  Is there still a Masterverb.bundle or MasterVerb LE.bundle hanging around the MAS folder that needs to be removed?

Tried it. Still no luck. I’ll forward this entire discussion to MOTU and see if they’ll tell me exactly what DP looks for to determine that there is a MAS version of a plug-in available.

Any chance of getting a MAS replacement?

Haven’t heard from you. Does this mean I’m just out of luck?
