Hi WaveArts, I’ve recently abandoned MH CS as my channelStrip as they STILL haven’t developed a version that runs on intel macs, LET ALONE an HD Accel chip which is 5 year old technology that’s become the mainstay of TDM.

Now with more powerful computers, and your CPU friendly plugin, I’m able to run your TrackPlug in RTAS while using my TDM Accel cards for other plugin packages, I’ve had to do this in the past with MH CS, so it’s not a “New Sacrifice” for me.

I like how fast you developed a UB version of your plugins, so I downloaded your demos, and pretty much bought them right away… really impressed.

The fact that you allow my PB and my G5 to be authorized, without having to remove my iLok from the studio, is really great.

I mix records for a living, it’s how I survive, and pay my bills. It’s these flexibilities, and remaining “On top of it” in a quickly advancing technology, that takes ALOT of stress off my job, knowing your plugin will work on my intel iMac, my PPC Dp G5, and my powerbook.

Nevertheless, I’ll quit rambling and give you my only “Pet Peeve” with TrackPlug.

It’s the “Default Settings” I actually find your compressor “quite usable, and transparent” except for the “Default preset” when i turn it on.

It’s my least favorite preset for transparency… infact I’d prefer the WHOLE plugin to remain “FLAT” as i enable all of the individual features I’d like to bring up the ratio / threshold as i need it.

Also, by default, the track limiter is on. I know this is done to compensate for EQ boosts crating “over’s” but personally I’ll always turn the TrackPlug’s output down a few DB if I’m making any drastic EQ decisions, and manually set my levels accordingly.

I don’t want to “Limit everything” by default… those are separate decisions.

For me, when I load a TrackPlug, I always have to take the time to, flatten the threshold, turn off the limiter etc…

Now, I’ve created a user preset that’s “Just that” but it’s no faster to Load the preset.

What I’d like to see?

Either a way to make a “User preset” load on default (Even a seperate utility to overwrite the “Factory Preset” so that you don’t have to update the plugin.

OR

Limiter off by default
Threshold 0db by default

I still would like a way to have the plugin load MY preset by default.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for the suggestion, I agree having a customizable default preset would be helpful.

Thanks Rob… 1 thing for sure, to NOT change, is your tech support, and how active you are, on the forums listening to the user base… GREAT job !!

I’ll be trying the Beta you sent me, on my HD system in the next few days, thanks for remaining on top of that… sorry I’m so slow… I’m on LE at home and everything works fine…

I just track, and Mix out at the studio on the HD system, so I spend more time in editing / overdub land, out of the control room which is shared by 3 engineers.

Fingers crossed… I’ll let you know how I make out.

For Protools there is a simple workaround;

Set up the plug-in to the start up setting you want in the PT plug-in part of the window (NOT the wavearts preset menu-bar)
•save it to your root settings folder (in the upper part of the PT plugin window [settings preferences > save plug-in settings to > root settings folder])
•select[settings preferences > set plug-in default to > user setting]
•click Set As User default
after this you can save your presets were-ever you like, just select either sessions or root folder from the protools part if you only want to use it in protools OR save to an apropriate folder through the wavearts menubar (so you can load from within other applications).
