Just to be certain, can you select About from the plug-in Tools menu and let me know the version and build date? This sounds like a bug we fixed a while ago, so I just want to make sure there is no older version hiding on your computer.
Actually, I tried to reinstall 5.47 again, but it still says 5.40 when looking at the VST plug-ins.
Looks like 5.47 does not install VST properly on my machine.
When I check winamp, the DX plug-ins are 5.47 though, so the problem is only with the VST.
After looking for instances of Panorama_5.dll, I realised that the new version puts them in C:\VSTPATH rather than where I was expecting them, in C:\program files\wave arts.
I uninstalled everything, reinstalled, added c:\VSTPATH to the VST plug-in manager, and now it is version 5.47 that is used.
On the other hand, it still does not show the CIPIC HRTFs.
I might be mistaken, but the directory name VSTPATH seems a bit funny, looks like a variable name rather than a directory name. Could there be a problem there?
Out of interest, I tried to move the Panorama_5.dll around, putting it in the Wave arts directory, the HRTF directory, etc, but I did not manage to get the result I wanted: the CIPIC HRTFs still do not appear in Panorama.
And I also tried it the other way round, copying the HRTF directory around. No luck I’m afraid.
Currently my best guess is that there is a small bug in the installer, where the path for the installation directory is stored in a variable called VSTPATH, which at some point gets taken literally, creating a C:\VSTPATH, as opposed to the location contained in “VSTPATH”?
The installer looks for a registry item called VSTPATH which is created by some VST hosts, but it seems it converts this to a literal folder name when it is not found.
I’m really confused about why the hrtfs are not being found, if the folder is located at the same place specified by the PresetPath key in Panorama 5 registry entry. I’ll see if I can test some different scenarios to help narrow down the problem.
There may be a very simple explanation for the “missing” CIPIC entries. The CIPIC data is only sampled at 44, 48, and 96 kHz, so if you are using some other sampling rate the CIPIC entries will not appear in the HRTF menu. The builtin KEMAR and Human data is sampled at 16, 22.05, 32, 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, and 192 kHz.
Thanks Rob & Bill, I checked and this is the problem. I was playing with lower sampling frequencies. When I upsample, all is well. Never thought of that, sorry for taking your time with this silly thing.
Now I can play with the CIPIC HRTFS as well.
One small problem: with all this running around, I’m running out of time for the trial version, which is expiring today. Any chance this can be extended a bit so I have time to do a proper evaluation?
