Hi Don, in these recent examples, were you using MAS or AU?

I’m not able to reproduce the problem with idle being more CPU intensive than playing, using the closest test machine I have to yours (a 1.25Ghx G4 with OS 10.4).  Two stereo MultiDynamics at 96000 and 512 buffer size is about 50% CPU either playing or not, which is about what I would expect.  Changing mode from vintage to clean reduces CPU usage a bit, and it’s also dependent on number of bands.

Did this problem just start with the 5.51 update?  If so, you could also try the newer public beta here:

Hello,
Yes it began with 5.51. Version 5.4X had the pops when starting playback.
Does your test comp have 10.4.11 & DP version 7.12? I’m also using PCI audio (424 card).
OSX 10.4.8 & DP 5.13 did not have the problem with Ver 5.4X, IIRC

I will try the beta version,

Thanks
