Frequently Asked Questions

Why is demo timed out after successfully registering?

There are two known reasons why this can occur, both because the plug is unable to write the license to the license file.

1) On MacOS, the plug-in directory where the license file is stored may lack world-writable permission. This is needed because the installer creates the directory owned by root, while the DAW runs as user. Early versions of the installer may have failed to set this permission, and installing again even with a corrected installer does not update the permissions. To fix, delete the plug-in directory and then install with the latest installer, and then register again. The plug-in directory is found at “/Library/Application Support/Wave Arts/PLUG” where PLUG is the name of the product associated with the serial you are registering, which may be a plug-in or a suite.

2) On both MacOS and Windows, there is a bug in early versions of Power Suite 6 plugs prior to 6.05 where you can register successfully but the plug remains in “demo timed out” mode. This is because the new license is not correctly added to an existing license file. To fix, download and install the latest version, and then register again. It should register as expected.

You can also work around this problem by deleting the existing license file and then registering again. The license file is found at:

Mac:
/Library/Application Support/Wave Arts/PLUG/PLUG License.xml

Win:
C:\ProgramData\Wave Arts\PLUG\PLUG License.xml

where PLUG is the name of the product associated with the serial you are registering, which may be a plug-in or a suite.
